Book for Creating safe spaces and having hopeful conversations: 14 April
What helps people feel safe enough to share their experiences – and how can we support conversations that nurture hope? Book your place.
Peer support is built on trust, connection and shared lived experience. Creating environments where people feel safe enough to speak openly is essential to meaningful peer support.
Our upcoming online session, Creating safe spaces and having hopeful conversations, invites peer workers to come together to explore practical ways to create supportive spaces and develop skills for having hopeful, recovery focused conversations. This interactive session offers time to reflect on practice, share experiences with others and explore ideas that strengthen peer relationships.
At the session
Together we’ll explore how to create environments where people feel able to share openly and honestly, and how peer practitioners can support conversations that nurture hope and connection. This workshop will draw on learning from our Creating Safe Spaces Practice Guide and activities from the Creating Hope with Peer Support resource.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Build confidence and skills in developing peer relationships
- Learn about the Peer Support Pathway and the importance of the peer relationship
- Hear live examples from peer groups and services across Scotland
- Share ideas and experiences with other peer practitioners
This session is designed to be collaborative and reflective, recognising that everyone brings valuable knowledge and experience to the conversation.
It will be led by Lesley Smith, Projects Officer and Catriona McDougall, Projects Coordinator at Scottish Recovery Network.

This event is open to peer workers (paid and non paid) in Scotland who want to strengthen their facilitation skills and confidence in supporting meaningful conversations.
