The power of peer: reality vs myth: 19 March, Dundee

Join us for this peer worker practice exchange, as together we explore how to challenge the myths and champion the impact of peer support.

Peer support is powerful, yet misconceptions can limit its reach. Is it “just a chat”? Does it replace professional support? Can anyone do it? Together, we’ll explore how to respond to these questions so the full potential of peer support can be realised.

Through open discussion, shared experience and guest contributions, we’ll unpack misunderstandings and strengthen the case for peer support as an essential part of Scotland’s mental health system.

An authentic exploration of a vital and impactful approach to mental health recovery.

Who is the event for?

This Peer Connects takes place in Dundee on Thursday 19 March from 11:00 until 14:30. It is for anyone interested in peer support who wants to deepen their understanding, challenge misconceptions, and strengthen how peer support is communicated and practiced in communities, services, and groups. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Due to our funding commitments, this event is for people working in Scotland, but learning will also be shared in our newsletter and through the Peer Recovery Hub.
