Minister launches new toolkit!

Minister for Mental Wellbeing and Social Care, Kevin Stewart MSP has officially launched our Run your own Recovery Conversation Café toolkit!

A launch event took place at Flourish House in Glasgow and modelled the recovery conversation café approach. At the event we spoke with the Minister about the importance of engaging with people with lived experience.

Members of Flourish House and representatives from the Mental Health Network (Greater Glasgow) joined us. They also had the opportunity to speak to the Minister about the great work they do. (Photograph in newsletter features Stuart Campbell and Ann Jones along with the Minister). More photos from the launch

A move away from traditional consultation

People with lived experience of mental health problems have a wealth of experience, knowledge and skills to offer. Unfortunately they often find it difficult to have their voices heard.

Providing a different approach to engagement a recovery conversation café moves away from traditional consultation. The approach creates a welcoming environment where people are not just passive responders but active participants, listening to each other and building on ideas.

This free toolkit supports you to engage with people in a meaningful way. It helps you to find out what is important to them. Want to really involve people with lived experience in the design and delivery of mental health strategies, services and support? This is for you.

I am delighted to be involved in the launch of this resource. We need to recognise the value of the voice of lived experience and integrate it into all parts of our mental health system.

Lived experience enriches our understanding in a way no second hand accounts can. The recovery conversation café approach is a really good example of an innovative way to capture what is important to people, allowing us to work together to make sure the valuable insights and ideas from people with lived experience are heard and acted on
