Peer Support in Prevention and Early Intervention: Insight Report 2 published
Peer support is already making a significant impact but with proper recognition, funding, and integration, it could become a core pillar of mental health prevention and early intervention in Scotland.
Insight Report 2 explores the role, impact and opportunities of embedding peer support in prevention and early intervention mental health services and supports across the country.
But what does that actually look like in practice? This report explores exactly that and makes a clear and compelling case for peer support as a vital part of recovery-focused mental health system.
The report draws on evidence, lived experience, national and international data and is part of a programme of work to champion peer support and peer working in mental health as set out in Strategic Action 2.3 in the Scottish Government and COSLA Mental Health and Wellbeing Delivery Plan.
Peer support is an early intervention and prevention support mechanism that if funded appropriately could save £ms on unnecessary escalation of support required from statutory bodies at higher and more acute levels.
