Learning from the Peer2Peer pilot

A new report outlining the findings from an independent evaluation of the Peer2Peer Development Programme.

Scottish Recovery Network designed the Development Programme as a new approach to support organisations to plan and deliver Peer2Peer.

We welcome the impact that the Peer2Peer resources have had in their own right. Their value in supporting groups and organisations to deliver training and develop peer support. As a free-to-access resources and can be adapted to suit the needs of many different initiatives.

However, we realised that designing and delivering Peer2Peer training, even with these resources to hand, is not easy. That many who wanted to develop peer support were struggling to get started. This is where the Peer2Peer Development Programme came in. The idea was that we would run a group programme where different organisations could learn together. Support each other to design and deliver their own Peer2Peer courses.

This new way of working has resulted not only in some successes but also lots of learning. We are grateful to the organisations who joined the Peer2Peer Development Programme and shared their experiences and learning, with other participants, us, and our evaluator Ruthless Research. We appreciate their honesty in sharing what worked for them and what didn’t work so well. All the feedback will help us to build future group programmes.

It is important that we are all able to try new approaches and learn from them. We are taking the learning from the Peer2Peer Development Programme and using it to inform how we support more groups, organisations, and services to deliver Peer2Peer training and embed peer approaches in all that they do.
